Live your life Frame by Frame!
Tell your unique story through mixed media materials, powered by animation principles! In this interdisciplinary program that includes working with clay, beads, paper, and other fine art materials, each animator will use their new knowledge on capturing images frame-by-frame to bring their own fantastic world to life. Animators will develop ideas through storyboards, create protagonists through character design, and deep-dive first-hand into set design and prop creation. Animators will record and collect sound for their short films, and learn to edit and export their final productions to be screened to their peer audience. Express your vision through story, fine art, and action!
Instructor: Cristal Buemi
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Canada, Cristal has created multilingual, mixed media works. She holds a BA and MA from Ryerson University, Bau Design College of Barcelona. Her background in digital media and stop motion animation are showcased in her mixed media approach that integrates old techniques with new technologies. Her work seeks to push frame-by-frame boundaries. Her collaborative and individual works have been exhibited in Europe and North and South America. Cristal’s passion for teaching and creative expression has her involved with TIFF, SKETCH, Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS), The Koffler Centre of the Arts and Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada, and has worked as facilitator to many workshops for various ages.
